Toyshelf
Our toyshelf meets Maria Montessori's postulate that children must be able to choose their own activities. In this way, they develop self-confidence and can freely change and adapt their decisions to specific situations.
By choosing a toy rack for your child's room, you will provide your little one with a space that will support his development. A preschool-aged child is eager to use properly designed furniture, from which he takes toys and moves them to the area of his activities, to put the place back later. Observe your child's decision-making process. If you foster this skill, in adulthood this will become a very important skill for this already mature person.
Our Toyshelf has three shelves to which the child has unrestricted access. The furniture stands directly on the floor and measures only 70cm high.
Safety of the child
In the room occupied by the youngest children should be no elements that pose a risk to them during play. Here in particular we mean sharp edges, exposed contacts or angular corners of furniture. It is also not acceptable to enclose areas of the room with barriers.
Toyshelf was built from hardwood plywood finished by sanding the edges and rounding the corners. This material is designed for the manufacture of toys and children's furniture. Our plywood meets all international standards for wood products with which children are in constant contact.
All elements of the toyshelf were carefully hand-finished and are clean of sharp edges. They were protected with certified preparations with the appropriate approvals.
Toyshelf is designed so that a child can climb over it and not cause the furniture to fall over. It owes this to the shifting back of the low center of gravity by adding a solid back.
Assembly of the toyshelf is easy with a simple screwdriver and takes only about 5 minutes.
Room according to Montessori
The Montessori method is first and foremost an idea and a way of teaching. But not only - Maria Montessori paid a lot of attention to the space surrounding the child. The area of activity of a small person is not only the school or kindergarten, but primarily the room where he sleeps and plays, and thus spends a large part of his life. It is up to you to make sure that the proper organization of this space is conducive to the development of the child's independence and creativity.
A child's room should be a welcoming and safe interior, and it should be decorated in a minimalist and nature-oriented way.
The number of furniture pieces and their configuration is a matter that depends primarily on the age of the child. However, there are certain elements typical of a Montessori room that recur in every arrangement.
Freedom of movement and easy access to toys.
In a Montessori children's room, freedom of movement and unhindered access to all furnishings play a key role. Its design should not only allow, but also encourage the child to discover new items and use the familiar ones.
Toyshelf is placed low, directly on the floor. It does not stand too far from the wall (it is 35cm deep), so it allows free arrangement of the room. Toyshelf has three shelves, and the toys on them are easily accessible even to a very young child.
Toyshelf has a height of 70cm. This allows the child trouble-free access to the toys and encourages him to put them away after playing.
The simplicity is almost minimalist.
An excess of objects in a child's room not only restricts the movements of a little one, but can make it difficult for him to concentrate. When choosing furniture, choose items that are indispensable for him at a given developmental period. In a child's room, every object - we mean books and toys - should have its place.
Order fosters a sense of security in the youngest and develops activity. Our Toyshelf - a piece of furniture with a simple, safe and practical design - will help to maintain it.
Calm colors.
The Montessori method implies the use of a subdued color palette. This does not mean that a child's room has to be boring. After all, the toys and books themselves bring the power of contrasting colors into the room! Furniture with light coloring is a good choice.
Toyshelf is offered in several color versions: natural, white, gray, mint and blue. The furniture blends perfectly with our children's bookcase, available in the same colors.
