We should not wait to introduce our child to the world of books and adventures of literary heroes. This is an extremely important factor in stimulating the intellectual development of our child. Easy access to books, the ability to make conscious choices - these are the foundations of Maria Montessori's pedagogical method. Therefore, we should create the right conditions for the kid to perform independent activity.

Books easily accessible to the child are the key to developing his creativity and gaining self-confidence.

The children's bookshelf in the form of a bookcase, open and clear in its design, is an ideal choice for those who prefer harmony and simplicity of interiors.  According to the principles of the Montessori method, this piece of furniture is designed to support the child in his development. The very method of arranging books with the cover facing forward allows the little one to make a thoughtful choice of reading, and full accessibility to the shelves-pockets from the floor level makes it easier not only to reach the desired item, but also encourages to put it back in its place later. Such a solution teaches self-discipline and care for one's own space. 

The children's bookshelf was handmade from 15mm thick plywood manufactured from hardwood. It was painted with varnishes and paints completely safe for the environment and child's health, meeting, among others, the conditions of the European standard PN EN 71.3.

All sharp corners and edges have been sanded and rounded, and the structure provides stability reinforced by a solid back, so that even climbing on the shelves will not cause the furniture to topple over.

Montessori method and arrangement of a child's room

Maria Montessori's method involves learning through play. Above all, however, it is aimed at the all-round development of the child, with particular emphasis on the training of creative and logical thinking. 

Is there a relation of the method of upbringing to the child's room furniture? Absolutely yes! The space should be organized in such a way that the child does not face any restrictions, has easy access to all furnishings with guaranteed safety.

Child safety

Safety is a fundamental aspect of arranging a room for a baby. There should be no heavy or dangerous objects or sharp edges, and any corners must be properly rounded or secured.

Our bookshelf is made of plywood intended for the manufacture of furniture and toys for children. All edges and corners properly sanded and rounded. The structure is perfectly balanced and properly designed. 

Even if our kids wanted to treat the furniture as a climbing wall, they will not be in danger. The bookcase will maintain its stability and will not fall over.

No barriers

Maria Montessori's method suggests that area should be arranged in a friendly way, providing kids with free movement and access to his stuff.

Children's bookshelf  does not take up much space - at its deepest point it is only 35 cm. It is set directly on the floor, so access to four shelves-pockets is very easy.

Children's bookshelf is only 70 cm high, which makes access to even the highest shelf fully comfortable for the child.

Simplicity and organization

Simplicity should prevail in a playroom. Maria Montessori focused a great deal of attention on the careful arrangement. It should be achieved by appropriately selected furniture.

Four shelves-pockets, accessible from the level of the floor, make it possible to store a lot of books. The fact that they can be placed only with the cover facing forward, positively influences kids to quickly find the item of interest.

Color scheme

An important point to pay attention to is the color scheme of a child's room. In the Montessori method, colors should be chosen intuitively, without following established patterns (e.g. pink for girls, blue for boys). A subdued base color is important, since its enlivening will usually become very colorful books and toys. 

Children's bookshelf can be ordered in natural color, white, gray, mint or blue. On such a background, the book covers will look great.

Functionality

In a child's room should be no superfluous items which serve no purpose.  Functions of existing furniture must be clear and easily recognizable. Your kid should easily understand where he should put a book and where to put a toy.
